Somerdale International has for the first time commenced the export of a range of great tasting British cheeses to The Philippines. Somerdale’s entry into the new market will see it work in partnership with Bacchus Epicerie, the Philippines-based supplier of fine wines and foods to leading restaurants, hotels and specialist retailers.
The launch, on Wednesday 25 January, was marked by a cheese and wine tasting event at the official residence of the British Ambassador in Manila which was attended by over 100 guests from major hotel and restaurant groups, influential food bloggers, local press and embassy officials.
Bacchus will initially stock great tasting traditional cheeses such as the award winning ‘Barber’s 1833 Vintage Reserve’ Cheddar, Somerdale’s unique ‘Il Truffelino’ which combines the creamy texture of Classic English Cheddar with the complex and luxuriant flavour of Black Summer Truffle, as well as that most quintessential of British cheeses, Blue Stilton.
Reaction to the British cheeses being sampled was very positive with many looking forward to using them in the future.
