Somerdale increases Export Capacity

Major investment enhances Somerdale’s export capacity and capabilities

Somerdale International, the leading exporter of British & Irish cheese to over 50 countries across the globe, has completed a significant investment in its logistics capacity and capabilities. At the heart of this is an expansion of its cold store warehousing and distribution hub, alongside the installation of a new, fully integrated supply chain management system.

The investment at Somerdale’s headquarters in Wellington, Somerset, has resulted in the creation of two additional state-of-the-art cold store facilities to complement its existing three stores. In doing so, overall cold storage capacity has increased by c.30%, with racking for 250 pallets of cheese now in place.

At the same time, Somerdale has also installed a new enterprise-wide warehouse and supply chain management system that will further enhance levels of customer service.

Commenting on the investment, Somerdale International’s General Manager, Di Henderson, said:

“The expansion of our warehousing and distribution capacity and the installation of an enhanced supply chain management system is a major milestone for Somerdale. The investment will significantly increase both our export capacity and capabilities. In doing so, it will reinforce Somerdale’s position as a leading exporter of British cheese and dairy products across the globe and is integral to our ambitious growth plans for the future.”
